Lunar Appoints Industry Leader Nanna Bergmann to Drive Moonrise Expansion
Building on the momentum of its December launch, Lunar, the Nordic challenger bank, today announced the appointment of Nanna Bergmann as General Manager for Moonrise, its newly launched payments infrastructure entity. This strategic move underscores Lunar's commitment to scaling its payments offering and establishing Moonrise as the leading payments partner for regulated fintechs, PSPs and banks in the Nordics.
"Nanna's deep expertise and strategic vision is precisely what Moonrise needs to capitalize on the exploding demand for real-time, integrated banking solutions in the Nordics," said Ken Villum Klausen, CEO and founder of Lunar. This appointment signals our full commitment to Moonrise's success as a standalone entity. Under Nanna's leadership, we are confident that Moonrise will not only bridge the gap between traditional banking and next-generation financial services but also redefine the financial landscape in the region."
The spin-off of Moonrise as a separate entity allows it to operate with greater agility and focus, further accelerating its ability to deliver innovative local payment solutions in DKK, SEK and NOK. Unlike legacy banking infrastructure, Moonrise provides virtual accounts, instant, real-time payments, a unified Nordic solution, and a highly scalable platform designed for rapid expansion.
Moonrise is already making a strong impact, with a daily transaction volume run rate exceeding €5 billion. Backed by 15 signed partners—including PPRO, CurrencyCloud, and Trustly—and an active pipeline of more than 25 prospects, Moonrise is poised for significant growth under Bergmann's leadership.
"I'm incredibly excited to join Moonrise at this pivotal moment," said Nanna Bergmann. "The market is ripe for disruption, and Moonrise is uniquely positioned to empower fintechs, banks and payment providers with innovative, scalable, and tech-driven financial services. The independence of Moonrise, coupled with Lunar's backing and tried and tested banking platform, creates a powerful combination. I look forward to working with the team to drive rapid growth, forge strategic partnerships, and solidify Moonrise's leadership position in the Nordic fintech ecosystem."
Bergmann brings extensive experience in fintech and commercial leadership to Moonrise. She has a strong track record of developing and executing go-to-market strategies, leading sales and marketing teams, and driving operational efficiency. Bergmann joins Moonrise from a position as Group Managing Director at The Bank of London where she played a key role in shaping the bank's strategy and early development. Prior to that, she has held senior positions at Google UK, S360 and Arla Foods.
